Most of all students in Japan have to wear uniforms to school. Traditionally all uniforms are a dark blue or black. The boys
will usually wear dress pants with a white dress shirt and a tie. Girls will commonly wear a dark colored dress with a white blouse underneath.
The gakuran is a type of uniform worn by boys in Japan. It has a collar that stands up and the buttons are usually decorated with the schools logo. The "Sailor Outfit" is commomly worn by younger female students. It consists of a pleated skirt and a white blouse with a sailor styled collar. Both of these uniforms are styled after uniforms that were worn in the army.
Students in Japan cover main subjects such as: English(language), Math, Science, Economics, Family Life(planning) and Socials. Students at
Japanese school's are required to help clean the school during the school day. Some parents are angry with the school's for making the children clean
during the school day saying that it "Takes time away from the childrens learning time". All japanese schools up too junior high, and almost always exclusivly public.
Once they hit highschool, Thats when the competition for who has the best students in their school starts. Almost one quarter of the high schools in japan are privatly owned and only except the best pupils in the area (Catchman area). The general improvement of education and standard of living for the Japanese population as a whole has resulted in some of the highest standards of education in the world. Students are required to study, study, and even more studying. Most parents in Japan Want their students to be on top, They expect the utter-most highest of the student. In japan they also have "Cram" schools which are schools that teach the children/teens extra lessons after their piano, violin, kendo, judo practices. These classes, on top of their regular school day classes can consume about 12 hours of their day, and thats before they have even done their homework. These students who take the extra mile, tend to be on top of the class.
Japanese classrooms are told do be left VERY clean. They have indoor and outdoor shoes, When they come inside to the classroom they put on slippers, which will hopefully keep the floors clean.

The video clip is showing a typical sports day in Japan.
Japanese have sports-days which is quite popular in their school systems. Students have no regular classes during their sports day, so they practice events during the day. Before they have events on the actual sports day, they reherse all of the events before they do the real sports day. So they have the schools band come out and practice, and presentations from the schools clubs, and individual sports events. These events normally take place on the schools feilds, so they can keep out of the sun and heat. Here the kids participate in a certain school sports day event.
Elementery kids have a more fun sports day then middle, and high school students. Middle/High school students tend to take sports day more seriously and get very, very competitive. There are two events that take place during a sports day, Individual and team sports.
